Duration: 7 DAYS / 6 NIGHTS
Day 1 You will be met on arrival Casablanca airport and
transferred to your hotel. After checking in, and dependant on your time of
arrival, you have the rest of the day free in this bustling commercial capital
of the Kingdom of Morocco. (D )
Day 2 After breakfast we
visit the Hassan II Mosque, the largest Mosque outside of Mecca. On to Rabat to
visit the main monuments including the Hassan Tower and the Mohamed V Mausoleum
where Hassan II is also buried alongside his father; the Kasbah of the Oudayas
and the Oudaya Gate. Travel on to Volubilis, our window into the Roman history
of Morocco - the mosaics there are wonderfully preserved, finishing our day in
Fez for dinner and overnight stay. (B/D)
Day 3 After
breakfast we have a full day in Fez to explore this, the best living example of
a medieval Arab city and the religious capital of the Kingdom of Morocco. See
the 9th century Karaouine Mosque and university; the bustling souks, tanneries
and the Islamic architecture. Light lunch in a local restaurant and dinner and
overnight in Fez. (B/L/D)
Day 4 Drive to Meknes for city tour
of the ancient capital of the Sultan Moulay Ismaël. His Royal stables there once
housed 12,000 horses. Time for a photo stop at the famous Bab Mansour then we're
off through the Middle Atlas mountains to Azrou, famous for its woodcarvings,
then on to the fruit growing region of Beni Mellal and dinner and overnight in
Afourer, a quiet Berber town nestling in the foothills of the Middle Atlas
Mountains. (B/D).
Day 5 After breakfast, we continue with a
morning drive along the Oum er Rbia valley to Marrakech. After checking in at
our hotel we have the rest of the day at leisure. Dinner and overnight in our
Marrakech hotel. (B/D)
Day 6 Marrakech. The morning takes in
the historical sights of this, perhaps the most famous of the Imperial cities of
Morocco - the 16th century Saadian tombs, the Medersa Ben Youssef, the 12th
century Menara gardens and the Koutoubia Mosque. After lunch in a local
restaurant back into the Medina for the souks visit terminating in the fabulous
Djmâa El Fna square with its myriad of street performers - soothsayers, story
tellers, tooth pullers, snake-charmers and many, many more. Evening dinner and
overnight at our Marrakech hotel. (B/L/D)
Day 7 After
breakfast and in accordance with your flight schedule we shall leave for the
airport and your return flight - or stay on with us in Morocco to explore more
of our wonderful country. (B)

Day 1 You will be met on arrival in Marrakech met by our English
speaking guide and transferred to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2 After breakfast we set off towards the south-east
across the Haouz Plain via an exhilarating drive up the twisting bends of the
road to the Tizi 'n Tichka pass ( 2260m) to continue gently down alongside the
Assif Imini to the 'Beau Geste' city of Ouarzazate. Lunch is taken en route
before arriving in this former Foreign Legion town for our dinner and overnight
stay. B/L/D
Day 3 After breakfast we set out on our journey
through the Drâa Valley to the edge of the Sahara, Zagora. There is even a sign
telling us the number of days by Camel to Timbuctou! We visit the Tamegroute
Mosque where there is still a Koran written on strips of vellum, some of
Alexander the Great's maps and an original maths primer before spending the
night in the desert Hamada town of Zagora, once an important stop for the
caravanserai with their gold, salt and slaves. Dinner is in the hotel. B/L/D
Day 4 After breakfast we set off north and then east,
skirting the Sahara between the Jbels Sarhro (The Dry Mountain) and Beni to take
lunch in the small village of Alnif. Such a contrast - the main form of
transport here is donkey or pickup truck! On we go to the Taffilalet Oases, to
arrive finally at Erfoud, another French Foreign Legion outpost. Dinner and
overnight in your hotel in Erfoud. B/L/D
(Here at either sunrise or sunset we
can organise for you a trip by Land Rover to Merzouga and Erg Chebbi, the
highest dunes in the Sahara, to witness a spectacular sunset or sunrise.
Day 5 After breakfast, we set off first to the north through
the almost lunar landscape and then to the east alongside the High Atlas
mountains to the Todra Gorges where lunch is taken in the shade of the cliffs.
The night with dinner is spent in a hotel in Tineghir. B/L/D
Day 6
After breakfast today we take the road of a Thousand Kasbahs back to
Ouarzazate. Lunch is taken at the entrance to the impressive Dadès Gorges. On to
Ouarzazate for dinner and overnight. B/L/D
Day 7 After
breakfast this morning we explore what is the ex French Foreign Legion town of
Ouarzazate. We start with the Kasbah Taourirt, once the home of the all-powerful
Glaoui family made famous by Gavin Maxwell in his book Lords of the Atlas. On to
the Aït Ben Haddou Kasbah, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and backdrop to so
many Hollywood films. We then take the road for Tahliouine where lunch is served
and on to Taroudant for dinner and overnight at the old Pachas Palace. Taroudant
was an important crossroads for the caravanserai of gold, salt and slaves. We
arrive in time to visit the Medina and souk before dinner. B/L/D
Day
8 After breakfast and in accordance with your flight's departure time,
we leave for the airport at Agadir, or you may prefer to extend your stay in the
Kingdom of Morocco.
