The world famous cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi is one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in India, frequented by millions of pilgrims from all over the world every year. Situated on top of the Trikuta Hills at a height of 1,700 m (5,300 ft), the sacred cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi is located at a distance of about 60 km from Jammu in the state of Jammu and Kashmir (J & K) in India. The cave in which three forms of Mata Vaishno Devi - Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Mahasarasvati - are residing, is 30 m (98 ft) long and only 1 ½ m (5 ft) high. Pilgrims can enter only in small groups through a narrow opening and walk through ice-cold waters to reach the holy shrines.

MAA VAISHNO DEVI YATRA (KATRA)
The Yatra begins at Katra and pilgrims have to cover 13 km. of terrain on foot to reach the Darbar.

Banganga
One kilometer away from Katra this is the place where Mata quenched her thirst.

Charan Paduka
Marked by the imprints of Mata's feet, this is the place where she first stepped.

Adhkawari
The Goddess then meditated in the cave at Adhkawari. Bhairon Nath took 9 months to locate her, the reason why the cave is known as Garbh Joon.

Sanji Chhat
After 9.5 km. you can rest for sometime here. Accomodation is also available. Bhawan is just 3.5 km. away. The option of Heli Darshan is also available nowadays where you can take a helicopter ride till Sanji Chhat and continue your pious journey on foot from here.

Bhawan
On arriving at the Holy Cave at Darbar, she assumed the form of Maha Kali and cut off Bhairon Nath's head which was flung up the mountain by the force of the blow and fell at the place where the Bhairon Temple is now located.

Mata Darshan
The Holy Cave Shrine of Maa Vaishno Devi is situated in a beautiful recess of the Holy Trikuta Mountains forming a part of the lower Himalayas as in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. There are images of three deities - The Mahakali, Maa Saraswati and Maha Lakshmi.

Bhairav Temple
Accordingly the pilgrims visit Bhairav temple after offering prayers at mother's abode in the cave. Thus, it is believed that the journey to Mata's shrine is not complete unless the devotee visits the temple of Bhairav.

Railway:
Nearest Railway Station - Jammu By rail, Jammu is directly connected cities like Calcutta, Delhi and Kanyakumari. Besides, it is connected with other major cities of the country.

Roadways:
Jammu is the terminus of a large number of Inter State Bus Services.

Jammu to Katra:
Buses leave for Katra every 10 minutes from the main bus stand at Jammu between 5.30 am to 8.30 pm. During rush periods, additional buses are also pressed into service between Jammu and Katra.

Shirdi is a small town located in the state of Maharashtra in western India. The place is around 296 km (6 hours drive) from Mumbai. Samadhi Mandir of Shri Sai Baba was actually owned by a millionaire from Nagpur and a famous Sai devotee Shreemant Gopalrao. He wanted to keep an idol of Murlidhar here. However, according to the legends, Baba himself became Murlidhar and the temple became the Samadhi Mandir of Baba. The Samadhi of Baba is built with white marble stones. The railings around it are full of ornamental decorations. The idol of Baba is a marvelous statue made up of Italian marble built by Late Balaji Vasant in 1954.

Shirdi, just off nashik-Pune national highway, is connected to all major centres in the region with good roads. It is 90 km from Nashik, 260 km from Mumbai, 185 km from Pune, 125 km from Aurangabad. Nearest Airports are Mumbai, Pune and Aurangabad.

Day 01: Mumbai
Arrive in Mumbai, the commercial capital of India, and depending upon the arrival time it may be necessary to hold the accommodation from previous night as check in and check out time is 12 noon in most of the hotels. Half day city tour of Mumbai if time permits visiting The Gateway of INDIA and the chief entry port of India is a largest industrial centre and is reputed to be the most cosmopolitan city in the east. With its beautiful natural harbour, studed with emrald islands and palm - fringed shore which rises gradually to the mountain peaks. It is one of the finest waterfronts. Highlights of the city sightseeing include the Gateway of India, Hanging gardens, Prince of Wales Museum, The bustling Crawford Market, Flora Fountain and the Dhobi Ghats - a vast outdoor laundry.

Day 02: Mumbai/Aurangabad
Transfer to Mumbai airport in time to connect flight to Aurangabad, check in to Hotel and afternoon sight seeing of Ellora Caves: About 18 miles away from the city of Aurangabad - a group of rock temples - posses a magnificent series of Buddhist and Jain temples of the 9th Century A.D. Kailash Temple, hewn out of a single rock, carved with life size figures of gods and goddesses, is a wonder.

Day 03: Aurangabad
After breakfast full day tour of Ajanta caves : Hewn out of rocks richly sculptured and with walls, ceilings and pillars adorned with fresco paintings depict the life of Buddha. These cave picture galleries are unique in the history of art and date from the 22nd Century B.C. to the 7th Century A.D.

Day 04: Aurangabad/Shirdi
After breakfast leave by surface for Shirdi (125 Kms/3 hrs) - en route visit Daulatabad Fort, this hilltop fortress was built in 1187, Mohammad Tughlak (The mad Sultan of Delhi) who shifted his capital here. On arrival at Shirdi, check in to Hotel and overnight at Hotel.

Day 05: Shirdi/Pune
Early morning Visit temple of Sai Baba (there are very long queues for Sai Baba Temple) and the temple of Shani (Temple devoted to Saturn). After Lunch leave by surface for Pune (185 kms/ 4hrs) the cultural capital of Maharashtra. Rest of the day free and overnight at your hotel.

Day 06: Pune
Full day city tour of Pune city visiting Kasturba Gandhi Smriti Mandir ( Aga Khan Palace) where Kasturba Gandhi - wife of Mahatma Gandhi breathed her last in internment, Pataleshwar Cave Temple , Shaniwar Wada -a palace built in 1736, which was destroyed in a fire in 1827, Osho Commune - At Koregao Park is Guru.

The immaculately - run centre is eco-friendly, international, and a pleasure to be in, even for a tourist. Open to visitors from 6-9 am and 4-7 pm in summer and from 6.30-9.30 am and 3.30-6.30 pm in winter. The commune can be visited through guide tours daily at 10.30 am and 2.30 pm for 45 minutes. Those wishing to stay at the commune have to get in touch directly with centre. Also worth visiting is the film & Television Institute of India : a premier institute of its kind. Worth a visit for those with stars in their eyes. Some of India's best film directors, actors and technicians have walked through the portals of this institute.

Day 07 : Pune/Delhi
After breakfast transfer to Pune airport in time to connect flight to Delhi. On arrival check in to hotel and half day city tour of Delhi and New Delhi visiting : Two and a half hours drive around Old Delhi visiting the Red Fort - one of the magnificent palaces of the East with Diwan-e-Am, where once stood the jeweled Peacock Throne - studded with diamonds and precious stones, and the graceful Pearl Mosque, Jama Masjid which is considered the biggest mosque in India, Chandni Chowk - a typical bazaar with narrow lanes and traditional traders, Raj Ghat where Mahatma Gandhi - the father of the Nation was cremated and the Government Buildings.
